Went to the gym early this evening and had a full-on cardio workout and I’ve discovered that the most important thing when working out is that my heart rate has to be at the right rate, to make me lose weight efficiently. Wow, never knew that! :-) D. was kind enough to loan me his heart rate monitor to use, so I can keep track. Now, if only I could get it to start... Ho hum... I’m also doomed to have a run on Saturday morning, thanks to D. *lies on bed, refuses to get up!* After the gym session, I decided that I needed new shorts. Yes, new shorts! Currently, I’ve a cream yellow pair of shorts that are HUGE on me now, when they used to be comfortably loose when I was bigger before I started going to the gym. So off we went, D. & I, to Carousel Westfield Cannington Shopping Centre.
Stopped at Charcoal Chicken for dinner, where we shared a whole Portuguese chicken with Briyani rice and cream sliced baked potatoes for sides. Their Briyani rice was one of the best I’ve had in Perth, albeit that they were a bit soft, but the rice was tender, not soggy rice! The chicken was very nice, though it looked like a flattened half burnt chicken (but wasn’t burnt at all, it was all the yummy spices!), very juicy, tender and quite spicy! However, it’s probably considered not as spicy for those with people with experienced tongues, with regards to chillies. ;-) We also indulged in some Lebanese sweets, Baklawa (in Lebanese), sweet flaky pastries with walnuts. I liked these better because they weren’t as sweet as compared to the Turkish Baklava (in Turkish), which D. liked better, because they were sweeter, more aromatic and had more spice. But my goodness, the Turkish ones were bloody sweet! If I ever had one too many, I’d have diabetes there and then! :-( All in all, the meal was reasonable at $25 for two people, so D., the next affordable meal’s one me! Hee hee!
Toddled off into the mall where we headed towards Target and shopped for the said shorts. We then took a little detour to Katie’s as they had a 50% sale. Can’t miss that! Went and tried on some jeans and black pants, because yes, again, my clothes are getting to be a little too big for me. Ended up not buying anything, because some tops were too clingy, hung at all the wrong places, and I swear, I think I’m an in-between size. Say the HYPOTHETICAL number of the sizes available is 2, 4 and 6. I swear, depending on the cut, I’m an odd number. I’m either a 3 or 5. With that being said, I repeat, that it is a HYPOTHETICAL size. Therefore, there is no point buying something that doesn’t fit, even if there IS a sale. Money would just be wasted and I would prefer to save it, and spend it on something that does fit me at the time that I try it on. Finally got to Target and hunted down those shorts and got some undies too. I’ve discovered that undies are expensive in Australia. It’s so much cheaper to buy them back in Singapore in Chinatown. Big deals there! I also ended up also getting a contoured pillow, Dentons High Profile Contoured Pillow, to be exact. Haven’t been exactly getting the quality sleep I should be getting and I’ve a guardian angel that bestowed this gift upon me, thank you my angel! :-)
With our actual shopping done, we took to window shopping, for mobile phones. Hee hee! D. recently bought a Nokia N95, and it’s cool, with GPS, multimedia and PC functions. We both like technology and always have fun looking at new phones. Just recently, I’ve begun to take a liking to Sony Ericsson phones, because when a birthday is entered, it mirrors it in the phone’s calendar. Energy saver!! :-) The W880i is so freaking slim, it’s amazing! Imagine if I had that when I started working back home next year! Uber cool! I’m planning on saving for a phone like that, though the Nokia 6300 is slim as well, though not as slim as the W880i. In Temasek Polytechnic, Nokia was the phone to have because of the cute images of bears and what nots with the use of underlines, asterisks and other symbols to make a picture on the mobile phone screen. Back then, Nokia was the only phone that those symbol-images would appear correctly on, thus the popularity of that brand. However, now with MMS and cameras in mobile phones, I’ve the feeling that Nokia’s not that big anymore and that I should be looking at other phone brands to see what they can offer me, and I think Sony Ericsson’s a good choice. Recently, Nokia phones that I like don’t have a camera in front to facilitate video calls, or self portraits (with mates, optional) for the vain. :-P
My Nokia 6233 has the ability to make video calls, but the camera is at the back, which makes me, wonder and scratch my head. Does that mean when and if, I make a video call to a mate, that I can’t view them on my phone screen because the camera at the back of the phone is just opposite my face? Methinks the answer is yes, and that it’s pretty crappy from the design point of view. Come one Nokia, I’m sure you can do better than that! Sony Ericsson’s doing a pretty good job! Even the Nokia 6300 doesn’t have front camera even though it’s touted to be the slimmest Nokia phone. The Sony Ericsson K and W range all have 2 cameras and have decent specs. I’m just keen to get a professional looking phone for when I begin my career. I’m so psyched! :-) I’m always happy with new gadgets and I always make sure I’ve the means to get them, through sheer hard work! Yeah! *Peace sign* Heck, after four years of gruelling uni, I KNOW I deserve a good phone! But then again, my cousins handing down an old O2 PDA phone to me next year, so I’ll see how it goes. If the PDA’s too scratched, I’ll just have to get it skinned in Wisma Atria in Singapore or some other shop that does gadget skinning. Think of a bus with advertisements on it and it’s the same concept. It’s an adhesive, extremely thin skin that attaches to the desired gadget to change its look. So I reckon it’s like an extreme makeover. Heh.
Scooted out of Westfield Carousel as the shops were closing and realised we hadn’t gotten our fix of Boost juice smoothies, so headed to Icey Ice in Northbridge. Never tried it as I think it had just recently opened, so went to have a go and check out their wares. It’s a nice bright little place and has a slightly different feel as compared to Utopia and Easy Way. Seemed a little friendlier, or perhaps it was the nice Asian counter staff girl that served us. D. had a Green Tea Chiller with Red Bean Paste and it was really nice! I had the Mango and Yakult Chiller and it was real thick and the mango taste was bursting! Yum!
After a fun evening, went home and ended up typing this post, along with breaks of looking and skimming through some of books about Michel Foucault and his theories. Oh what great fun I’ll have tomorrow! (Insert dripping sarcasm, right about... NOW.) Oh Joy!
I’m off to try my new pillow tonight and head off into the sweet, sweet land of where hot hunks and good food gather, so I bid you, my audience a temporary adieu. I’ll see you in the morning, so take a chill pill and wish you were me, having such luscious dreams. Hunks of ‘300’, here I come! :-D
