Now Not to Pack for Two Countries

I don't know if anyone has been in this situation before, having to travel to two countries nearly back to back and having to pack all your belongings within a short span of time. Air hosts/stewadesses do not count in this particular instance. Why? This is because I'll also have to pack up my stuff for when we move house. It's such a hassle but it's got to be done. I have to cull a lot of junk. All of this before I travel to Australia and the UK.

I cannot stress enough, that in order not to have a headache when packing, one has to know what they are going to bring to the respective country and what to leave behind. It does not help as well when the warden of junk-must-all-be-kept lives with me. Be sure avoid such wardens when packing. :)

Argh, have got to go for now. The warden has awoken from her slumber. :)

The Hari Raya misadventures of Reong

Today is Hari Raya Puasa, a public holiday in Singapore and I had been invited to M’s home to catch up and savour her mum’s chicken wings. Since meeting her many years ago, our friendship has been going strong and I am thankful for that and the welcome her family has always extended when I visit and say hello.

This morning started out ordinarily enough. Woke up, did the usual chores to make one’s self presentable to the world and had planned to get there just in time to get a quick gift & chill for an hour or slightly more, before attending to the Empress Dowager (ED) later on. But things are not always as simple as they appear to be, or could be. Ah-ha! Apparently Her Highness had some other plans as to where to get the gift. So, yours truly had to drive all the way down south with ED, to acquire the approved gift. When the journey to M’s house is a much shorter distance. -_-;;

After purchasing a lovely box of chocolates, I dropped ED at an Arabic castle with treasures untold (aka a Mall in little India). Onto M’s house and had quite a relaxing drive. Got to her place and I was greeted by the cutest little girl, who squealed to inform the inhabitants that a guest had arrived. I was the greeted warmly by M in an ensemble of T-shirt and shorts. How underwhelming. LOL. I had thought she was going to be dressed in the traditional Baju Kurung (Malay dress) and all dolled up, as she is usually well dressed. But no matter, we’re best mates for life. :) (No matter what we wear.) Proceeded to chat away with her mum and caught up as to how they all were and the smell of home cooked food wafted through the air. Curry chicken, sambal mutton and fried chicken, oh my! (My mouth was watering already…) Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of the fab meal I had had, but I’ll try to remember next time.

After having a good time at M’s went to pick up the ED and went to Takashimaya to have dinner. Blog more about that later!

Aiyo!!! Copycats and Family

Why does life have to be so difficult? I know that without adversity, one cannot grow. But why is that, that when someone copes the things you do and you do not like that person, that you just feel like telling them: “Hey! Stop copying me! I don’t want you there and anywhere near me! Sod off!” I’m in that situation right now and I cannot just tell them that because they are a lot older than I am and if I did so, I would get into a lot of trouble. But I still am entitled to my views. Also, I would not sabotage them because I feel that it is beneath me to do so. I believe that if they do the wrong thing, it will bite them in the ass.

Another thing I would like to highlight about life is the way family has a way of laying on guilt trips. What’s with that? Sometimes, one too many guilt trips, and it will not be effective any more. I’m sure of it. I’m also getting to the stage whereby guilt trips nearly have no effect on me any more. Just watch it, ok? Individuals with family members, I believe you can relate. I do not want to be unfeeling, but if that is what it takes to keep me sane, perhaps at this point in time, I might just become so.

Aiyo! This is a rant brought to you by Reong.
