Valentine's Day 2008

It's that time of year again, when romance and consumerism is in the air. Yes, it's valentine's day and it seems to be in full swing in Singapore. I didn't realise it was valentine's day until the 13th, when my nan and I were walking along orchard road, spending some quality time together. We were wondering why there were so many people with roses, peddlers selling flowers as well as pink cards and the influx of couples roaming Orchard road! No wonder! It was a reminder to forgetful Singaporean (fe)males who had forgotten the event, to 'faster buy something or kena die', from their significant other.

The fact that I had forgotten all about Valentine's day on Wednesday, was quite astonishing. I remembered, when I was single, how I would whinge about not having someone to share the holiday with. Now that I have someone, I completely forgot about it! Shocking! My mind was on other things than such a holiday, that I had forgotten to give Dave anything! All I could do was to send an e-card! I'm still feeling bad about it. :( What a bad girlfriend I am.

Not only that, I was informed a few days before the 14th, that a package had arrived for me. Being the busy bee that I am, and that the collection slip was at another location, I wasn't able to collect it before the 14th. It will have to wait. I have had packages sent to me before from friends, but I had a feeling it was from Dave, due to the fact that I never get anything in February aside from mobile phone bills. LOL! My feeling proved to be correct when Dave asked me whether I had received anything in the mail. :) What a lovely boyfriend I have, so romantic! *hugs Dave*

I remember last year's valentine's day in 2007. Dave the romantic, organised a lovely sunset beach picnic with a buffet of bites and white wine. The package included tulips, my favourite flower. (He remembered!!) :D I miss spending time with him, physically around me. More difficult now with an LDR. *shrugs*

But I think, any day can be valentine's day. Why should it be limited to one day every year? (Especially if romantic items are priced at a premium. I'd rather have my own valentine's day dinner, etc, when prices are low, so there's more stuff to be had! Hee!) If I decide to send something nice to Dave, I think it's because I want to and I am able to do so. People generally like surprises and I am one of them. I do not like shocks. So it was definitely a pleasant surprise for me to find that my boyfriend sent me a little something all the way from the UK. *big grin* It made my day. I shall try my best to get my pressie from the post office ASAP, even if it means pestering a certain someone (A) to let me get the damn collection slip, at the risk of 'disturbing' the people (A) doesn't want me to disturb. Dave knows what I'm talking about.
