A New Beginning in 2007

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! :) It's been a long wait, hasn't it? Yes, I know, I've been MIA for the last what, six months? I've good reasons!!!! Believe me!!! *grins*

Ok, now onward to the usual ranting. :) As of today, (well, more like in December 2006) I am a university graduate! Yes! I have obtained that piece of thicker than Xerox paper with a golden circular stamp!!! (Well I haven't received it yet, physically. More on that later as to why...) I had jumped for joy when I looked at my results, and they were mucho better than I expected!!! So I guess I'll be getting into Honours after all!!! Yay! Another year in Perth! *does a little dance* So yes, my friends, I will be travelling back to Perth, Down Under, to pursue my Honours Degree, and I'm telling you, I'm looking forward to it! :) So that's why I I'm not going to physically receive that piece of paper, as yet.

However, along the course of it all, my visa status has come into the picture. I’m now frantically trying to make a decision whether to renew my visa in Perth, and go back early, or stay here and apply for a new visa. Both, has its pros and cons.

If I go back to Perth, I’ll be nearby, if I need to go to uni or the immigration office to do any paperwork. I’ll also be there early to hassle my lecturer with regards to my dissertation and start on my research. The con is, the time for processing is slow, and I won’t spend as much time with nan. There is the possibility of doing another health check, etc, which I don’t really mind.

Now, if I applied for a new visa here, from the many different information sources I got, I would need more time to do apply for my visa, meaning I could do it electronically, do my medicals locally and spend a few more days with my nan. The con is, my current visa would be cancelled, and that would mean I wouldn’t be able to enter Australia on my old existing visa, and have to go through an agent as well to ensure everything goes smoothly. I would be going back a week later, which means I’d have less time to hassle my lecturer with regards to my dissertation and start on my research much later.

Another issue has crept up upon me that will swing the decision of whether I go back early or not… It is the availability of plane tickets. Currently, I’m on the waiting list for the earlier return flights, and I’ve a place for a flight a week later. It’s only a week’s difference, but has anyone ever noticed how fast time goes by especially when you need to find a lecturer in uni? *looks at all the nodding heads* That, and the time it takes to actually think of a dissertation topic. I mean, without discussing about the topic, you can’t start any real research! It’s not that I want to go back early, but I have to since I need to start on my research early… before the kiasu first years get to my lecturer! Bwahahahaha!

So yes, in any case, I’ll be going back to Perth early, and I hopefully don’t get kicked out of Australia, unless they want to lose my business, meaning my school fees for Honours.

Next on the agenda, I’m going to have a fun time renovating my room in 2007, so friends, if you’re invited, feel honoured. If not, either you’re overseas, and couldn’t possibly make it, or I have sincerely forgotten. My apologies in advance, friends. Contact me and we’ll do lunch, online. :-D

With regards to personal relations, I’m happy to say that I’ve made many friends over the three years I’ve been in Perth. Some have come and gone; some have come and continued to stay in my heart. I would like all of those whom I have met that your existence is special, and although for some reason we’ve not become extremely close friends, as it’s mortally impossible to have so many close friends, I treasure you as you are; acquaintance or friends. As this is my last year in Perth studying, I’d like to go out and experience Australia with as much as it has to offer. I will make an effort this year, to keep in touch with friends and family, and also devote time to my studies, and to someone special, D. (You know who you are…) I’ll also try to blog more, as I know time just slips by without a trace, and I suppose there should be some trace of me in this world, to prove my existence and let my friends remember me fondly. Also need to get to the gym, as I’ve been such a glutton back home with all the favourite local food! Aiyoh!

Oh yeah, what’s my New Year’s resolution for 2007? It’s to improve my posture and language skills. It’s going to be a hard one. I was successful with last year’s resolution of being on time, until somewhere down the road, I got distracted. Have to make sure I return to being on time… He he he…

So yes, that’s what’s been happening with me, and continue to tune in for next time, same URL, same person… Adios! (for now…)
